Around the Rhine, Moselle and Eifel, no fewer than 27 Traumpfade and 14 Traumpfädchen live up fully to their name. They are truly dreamlike, and from a distance the region’s legendary natural beauty can seem almost like a mirage. Yet up close, everything is real and within reach. Green landscapes, picturesque villages and small towns, historic sites, wide panoramas and countless places to pause and linger – this is what the Traumpfade are all about.

A Wanderer’s Dream – Traumpfade Make Hikers’ Hearts Beat Faster
Within sight of “Father Rhine”, hikers can discover castles, caves and the almost legendary Rheingold – for example on the “Rheingoldbogen”, where a unique panorama opens up amid vineyards onto the largest bend of the Rhine. The award-winning Moselle Traumpfad “Eltzer Burgpanorama”, which leads around “the” German knight’s castle – Burg Eltz – also provides true wow moments along the way.
The romantic Moselle is tempting not only because of its adjoining steep vineyards; the slate and the winding course of the river are just as impressive. In the volcanic Eastern Eifel, volcanoes, juniper heaths and historic castles await hikers – for example on the “Bergheidenweg”, with its southern flair between juniper heath and pine groves.
“Traumpfade” is not just a name. It is proven quality, recognised and awarded many times over: no fewer than four of the trails have been named “Germany’s Most Beautiful Hiking Trail” – the Virne-Burgweg in 2008, the Monrealer Ritterschlag in 2011, the Eltzer Burgpanorama in 2013 and the Pyrmonter Felsenstieg in 2015. True classics and real eye-catchers. And for those with a smaller appetite for Premium Hiking in between, the “Traumpfädchen in the Rhine–Moselle–Eifel Region” offer 14 short routes between three and seven kilometres, making them ideal for hiking beginners or families with children. Let the dreaming begin.

In addition to the mandatory criteria, the Premium Hiking Region meets the following optional criteria:
Component 1: Hiking Opportunities
The region offers one or more:
Premium Walking Trails
Certified long-distance trails (Premium Trails or Quality Trails)
Defect reporting tool as an app
Component 2: Well Informed
The Premium Hiking Region publishes a printed hiking map featuring all Premium Trails in the region.
The trail network is made clearer through categories such as easy and difficult.
Traumpfade app and QR codes (only Traumpfädchen “Sayner Aussichten”)
Component 3: Hiker-Friendly Hosts
Hosts support the region’s mobility concept. Pick-up and drop-off services to the trails are available, as well as luggage transfers for long-distance trails (guest card).
Seasonal culinary events and promotions are offered by local restaurants and are jointly coordinated and marketed by the Hiking Region and participating businesses.
The region cooperates with organisations that promote sustainable and regional food, such as Slow Food organisations and leckerMYK.
Special package offers for hikers are available (Mosellandtourismus, Eifeltourismus).
The Hiking Region cooperates with hiking tour operators (Kleins Wanderreisen, Neckermann).

Additional hiking events and guided hikes on a variety of themes are offered regularly (at least once a year):
