As a certified Premium Hiking Town, it offers far more than beautiful trails: here, quality meets naturalness, enjoyment meets movement, and tranquillity meets a vibrant sense of life.
The five Premium circular hiking trails, brought together under the name “Schwarzwälder Wandersinfonie”, are carefully composed nature experiences. Each trail has its own melody – sometimes gentle and expansive, sometimes wild and impressive. Whether on the Himmelssteig, the Wiesensteig, the Teufelskanzelsteig, the Schwarzwaldsteig or the Sinfoniesteig, which connects the highlights of all the trails: these routes appeal to all the senses, are clearly signposted, excellently maintained and certified according to the highest standards.
The routes are characterised by an impressive sense of scenic progression, with varied changes in landscape that allow hikers to experience nature in a completely new way. Sky loungers and numerous places to rest invite visitors to unwind and leave everyday stress behind.

The Premium Hiking Town meets core criteria as well as the following optional criteria:
Module 1: Hiking Offer
The municipality offers more than the required three Premium Circular Hiking Trails.
The municipality offers one or more Premium Walking Trails.
One or more certified long-distance hiking trails (multi-stage Premium Hiking Trails or Quality Trails) pass through the hiking destination, including the Sinfoniesteig.
A trail defect reporting app ("Mängel-Detektiv") is available.
Module 2: Well Informed
The Premium Hiking Town publishes a printed hiking map featuring all Premium Trails in the region.
The Premium Hiking Town provides a hiking brochure including all Premium Trails, with trail descriptions, local maps and an overview map.
An information hotline is available Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The certified trail network is clearly presented using difficulty categories such as easy, moderate and difficult.
Signposted access routes lead from nearby bus stops and railway stations to all Premium Trails where these are located within 1.5 km.
Module 3: Hiker-Friendly Accommodation
Accommodation providers support the region's mobility concept by offering shuttle services to and from the trails, as well as luggage transfer for certified long-distance hiking trails where applicable. (12 certified Quality Hosts)
Restaurants and hospitality businesses jointly organise and promote seasonal culinary events in cooperation with the Premium Hiking Region.
Self-service refreshment stations (including vending machines) are available along 50% of the Premium Hiking Trails.
The region cooperates with organisations promoting sustainable and regional food initiatives (e.g. Slow Food or regional quality labels).
Module 4: Trail Activities and Hiking Events
Additional hiking events and guided hikes on various themes are offered regularly (at least once a year), including:
Culinary hikes (e.g. beer, wine or three-course menu hikes)
Hiking marathon (from 2026)
Guided dog hikes (e.g. with a professional dog trainer)
Health hikes (climate hikes)
Nature walks (e.g. mushroom foraging hikes)
A hiking passport is available.
