Blue Lagoon

With its turquoise-blue, crystal-clear water, the canyon is a true jewel of the region. Today, the former limestone quarry, which was closed in 1977, provides ideal habitats for many rare species of plants and animals. With its plumage patterned in light and dark shades of brown, the Eurasian eagle-owl is perfectly camouflaged against the sparsely vegetated steep slopes. With a trained eye, visitors may even spot lizards. The colourful butterflies fluttering around in summer are somewhat easier to see. The area around the canyon is also known for its wild orchids.
